Is Lingua AI really free?
Yes. Lingua AI is free to download and use. The app is supported by occasional ads (via Google AdMob), which is the only way any data — limited advertising identifiers — is shared with a third party. Everything you learn stays on your device.
Does it really work without internet?
The core learning experience — translation, vocabulary, quizzes and AI chat — runs on an AI model stored on your device, so it works fully offline. An internet connection is only used to show ads.
Which AI powers the app?
Lingua AI runs Google's Gemma, a state-of-the-art open language model, quantized to run efficiently on Apple's Neural Engine and GPU. It loads once and then runs locally — no requests to any AI server.
Which devices are supported?
Lingua AI runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later. It automatically scales the AI to your device's memory, so newer models with more RAM get a larger context and even smoother responses. Because the AI model is bundled in the app, the download is large — install over Wi-Fi.
Do you collect my data?
We don't run any servers and don't collect your learning content. The only data processing by a third party comes from Google AdMob for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How many languages can I learn?
You can learn any of 35+ languages, including right-to-left languages such as Arabic, Hebrew and Persian, and non-Latin scripts like Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai and Hindi.
